AIRLAB: CATALYSING INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR AIR QUALITY Drawing on the open innovation model, AIRLAB is building an ecosystem to make it easier for members from different horizons to meet and collaborate. It aims to remove the stumbling blocks that

Manager of testing zones

Data sharing ecosystem

Space for user community to network and share knowledge

Partner and user promotion and support

Systematic assessment of solutions powered by AIRLAB

Operational support

Promotion of solutions that come out of AIRLAB

Coordination with other labs and business clusters

ASSESSMENT

Expectations are high and announcements are getting bigger, so it is essential that the solutions we develop deliver on the commitments made. Project assessment is a fundamental part of AirLAB’s work, benefitting from AirParif’s renowned expertise to assess projects and quantitatively measure their impact.

TESTING ZONES

Experience tells us that full-scale tests are a crucial stage in project development. Just as much for proof-of-concept as identifying potential ‘pivots’ or assessing performance. Through its network of partners, AirLAB will offer privileged access to testing zones including buildings and communes, and make them available for projects.

DATA

AirLAB aims to become a major nucleus for useful data on air quality, which is crucial for all innovation in the field. Certain data are already available as open data. Members of the AirLab community will have access to supplementary data, produced by members or other entities, on air quality and connected fields (travel, energy, etc.). Access will be subject to approval via a charter and special contracts, and will be licensed.

OPEN INNOVATION

AirLab is part of a wider movement towards open innovation: a collaborative approach built on the exchange of resources, knowledge, expertise and data. This encourages exchanges and promotes synergies between participating entities (businesses, institutions, etc.), all while remaining compatible with economic growth in the market economy.

LEGAL

AIRLAB operates under the authority of the Airparif Executive Board. It has a strategic committee to define and prioritise action and a steering committee to select and monitor projects.

AIRLAB’s work is based on a legal framework to make sure regulations on intellectual property and competition are respected as part of an open innovation approach (user charter, licences, and so on). Organisational and functional interactions with similar structures will be refined, taking inspiration from best practices used within their structures.
